Choosing Better Energy Use

Do you remember the last time you really stopped to think about the amount of power you were using? I have never been someone who is overly concerned about energy consumption, but after I started paying more a few years ago, it became more important to me. I started thinking more seriously about choosing better energy use, and this blog seemed like a natural step. I got things sorted out at home, and now I like to encourage other people to do what they can to save power, money, and resources. Read more on this website for information you can use.

Three Steps To Setting Up A Yurt For Constant Living

While living in a tent can be seen as rudimentary, it can actually be just as comfortable as a home. Yurts are built to be stronger and larger than regular tents and can sustain regular size furniture and appliances. Those who are interested in being a little more connected to nature will find that living in a yurt will be a comfortable lifestyle. Before you take the plunge, here are three things that you need to do when establishing a yurt for residence

Find a permanent place

Yurts can be constructed and deconstructed, but they work best when they are in a stable space. This way floors can be built underneath the structure and the yurt can be secured against the elements. Find a permanent space to place the yurt. This can be on a rental property that you have a several year lease with. You can also purchase a small plot of land that will support the structure as well as space to place other structures and park cars.

Set up power

Solar power is one of the best ways to have power available for your yurt. Portable solar generators are easy to put together. You can purchase a do it yourself kit in order to set up power for your new outside home. Be sure to get clear instructions on the amount of power that the generator puts out before settling for a kit. If you set up cooking facilities, you need to know that the generator can handle running an oven and stove to prepare meals. A portable generator will also be easy to reposition if you decide to move your home later on. To learn more about fulfilling your rural energy needs, contact a business such as Renogy

Figure out the lighting

Lighting will be the most important powered item inside of the yurt. You will need to have lighting, especially during the night and winter. If you live in a forested area, it is a matter of safety to be able to see outside of the yurt. String lights can work on the interior and exterior of the yurt. You may also be able to use battery powered lights in order to use floodlights and internal touch light systems. Find an LED light system that will permit you good visibility without using too much power. If you are able to power your solar generator to power the lights, be sure that your generator will put out enough energy to run the lighting along with other pluggable items on a regular basis.
